Everything To Know About Anime

Hello to everyone who is reading the blog. Today I want to talk about anime, it is a very difficult topic to talk about and I am saying that because some people think that anime is only for children and adults who watch them are not mature but I don't fully agree with them because there may be some anime that are for children but most of them can be viewed by both adults and children (I will recommend not to show violent anime to children). There is one more thing I want to tell those people that say anime is for children well superman or any other hero first started as comics which are usually read by children or teens so why do adult read them or watch movies inspired or based on them like the man of steel or avengers. Huh, why don't those people say something about that? Now let us move on then we can't stay on that argument. For those people who want to see anime,

There are five major types of anime:-

1. Shonen

2. Seinen

3. Shoujo

4. Josei

5. Kodomomuke

Shonen

Shonen can be translated to mean a few years in English and refers to a younger male audience (12-18). Shonen anime usually look to meet all the interests of younger males. Most of the series feature a young male protagonist. Shonen anime has some of the most popular and well-known franchises as they contain a little bit of everything. There are elements of action, adventure, fighting, drama, comedy, and coming of age.

Some of the most popular/well known Shonen anime include:

  • Dragon Ball
  • Naruto
  • Attack on titan
  • One Piece
  • Hunter X Hunter
  • My Hero Academia

Seinen

Seinen can be translated as a young man in English and targets the young adult or adult male viewers(15-25). Seinen anime usually have the same stories and themes as shonen, however are more sophisticated than shonen. They are more violent, sexual, satirical, or psychologically intense and therefore cater to a more mature audience. It is popular with high school teens all the way up to businessmen.

Some of the most popular/well-known seinen anime include

  • One-Punch Man
  • Berserk
  • Tokyo ghoul
  • Steins; Gate
  • Ghost In The Shell

Shoujo

Shoujo is the opposite of shonen, translated in English as a young girl. Shoujo focuses more on the interpersonal relationship and romance in the story rather than the fighting and action. The series tends to be more dramatic, but also still include the adventure, comedy, and action that are prevalent in shonen. The protagonist of the story is almost always female.

Some of the most popular/well-known shoujo anime include:

  • Ouran High School Host Club
  • Maid Sama!
  • My Little Monster
  • Vampire Knight

Josei

As shoujo is the counterpart of shonen, josei is the opposite of seinen. Seinen shows are targeted towards adult female viewers and focus more on romance than anything. They usually have a more realistic feel than shoujo and feature an adult woman. There are more erotic, intense, and dark subjects than other genres. They are based around an everyday normal life, but also have dramatic heavy scenes.

Some of the most popular/well-known josei anime include:

  • Usagi Drop
  • Paradise Kiss
  • Nodame Cantabile
  • Chihayafaru

Kodomomuke

Last but not least we have another genre that most have at least seen one show from kodomomuke. Kodomomuke means directed at children in English and is the only genre suitable for young viewers. They usually are super cute, imaginative, and creative, as well as have a moral message. The shows usually teach children how to be considerate, behave, and follow the right life path, while still being fun and exciting.
